Exhibitions 2023
It has been an exciting year as Number 6 has hosted several wonderful exhibitions!

Heather Foster
Exhibition and Auction of the Work of Heather Foster
Sunday 28th and Monday 29th May
Heather passed away in April 2022, and her family say that they “would like to ensure that her much loved works will find a home on walls where they will be appreciated for generations to come”.
Heather trained at Camberwell School of Art in the 1950s, and taught for many years at Harrogate Art School and Harrogate College of Arts and Technology. She exhibited nationally, at London galleries including The Mall Gallery, Bankside Gallery and the Royal Academy, as well as showing locally at galleries including The Mercer, Harrogate. She sought her inspiration from nature, often depicting landscapes and the natural world. Her main mediums were drawing and printmaking, in particular etchings and in more recent years iPad prints.

Their work is wide ranging from Botanical illustration, through expressive landscape painting, print, mixed media and collage to stitch and 3 dimensional projects. Working across diverse styles from precise figurative renditions which contrast with more abstract interpretations, from sketchbooks to artwork, they share their mutual interest and are excited to share their work with you again this year!

Drawing Out Nature
Thursday 24th to Monday 28th August
Nidd Art Trail
This exhibition will showcase the work of two artists Carol Sowden (Harrogate based) and Paula Hickey (Leeds based), made in response to their experiences of and within landscape.
Referencing themes of ephemerality and transformation and inspired by dynamic processes observed within nature. Material play lies at the heart of both artists practice, evident in their experimental use of materials and processes.
Featuring a variety of work, much has originated directly from collaborative time spent within the Nidderdale landscape. Primarily amongst the waterways of the river Nidd and environs of Pateley Bridge.
